x-mas shiner

Keaton was playing and slid across Oma's floor into her dining room chair. It's amazing that as a parent you know right away if your child is really hurt by his cry. This one hurt for certain. He was holding his face, crying, agreed to ice and wanted to be held. Should make for some interesting pictures this holiday.

Zambotti's House

Here is a picture of Keaton with Erika and Stephen. I think this guitar is part of the wii. Keaton found it and the kids showed him how to hold it. I wish that the picture was better quality. My camera phone doesn't seem to be taking pictures as well as it used to.

Keaton had a blast playing with Aunt Jenna, Uncle Mike, Erika, Stephen and of course the cats. He figured out that Stephen has tons of cool toys including thousands of lego's. Erika brought up a keyboard and let him play with that too.

We are loving spending time with family.

Santa

Yesterday we went to the University Mall and Keaton met Santa. Santa asked if he was a good boy and what he wanted for Christmas. Keaton didn't answer his questions and instead just pointed out all the different things in Santa's village like teddy bears and reindeer.

Beckett was with us but we didn't think that a 2 1/2 week old should be sitting on Santa's lap after dozens of other sneezing and coughing kids.

Enjoy the picture.

The Bouncy Seat

What do you mean this is only for the baby? I fit just fine and it's so comfy.

Keaton is completely enthralled by the bouncy seat. It doesn't matter if the baby is in it or not. He turns on the music, turns on the vibration, uses it as a sling shot, storage for his cars, a seat, and the list goes on and on. I've lost count for how many times in the past two weeks I've had to tell him to stop touching it. I just looked up and saw him sitting in it and had to take this picture.

Beckett had his two week well baby visit today. He already weighs 7 pounds 15 ounces. He is growing and changing so fast. He is still wearing newborn clothes but I think in the next week or so we can start trying 0-3 months.

We took the Beckett to Highlite Photography for his newborn pictures. They are so adorable. We took some with Keaton too. Not sure if this link will work but please try to copy and paste to your browser to see a few of the pictures.

Lazy Friday.

We are having a lazy Friday. It is 1 PM but we are still all in our jammies. Kind of nice to have no where that we have to be or anything to do today. Then again the past few days have been lazy too!

Beckett's First Well Baby Visit

Beckett had his first well baby visit on Monday with Dr. McMillan.

His weight dropped down to 6 lbs 8 oz while he was in the hospital but now he gaining weight. At the appointment he was already up to 7 lbs 2 oz so basically back to his birth weight. They also measured him at 20 1/4 in compared to the 19 in he measured at the hospital. This means that they probably measured incorrectly at the hospital. They actually didn't even measure him in the delivery room. Because we had to do the c-section so fast the person from the neonatal unit didn't make it on time. So they measured him in the nursery during his first bath.

I guess I should share with everyone the whole story about the delivery. I was having contractions all day at work on Monday. I had a feeling that he was going to come before the planned c-section. I had a check-up that afternoon and my contractions were coming far more regularly. Dr. Yamashiro had me go to the hospital to be monitored. I was still having contractions but they weren't regular enough to be considered labor. I wasn't dilated at all either. The nurse actually said she was sure it was just braxton hicks. So they gave me a shot of morphine and sent me home.

I was pretty loopy. We had dinner and then I was so tired I fell asleep. I woke up at 1:26 having a contraction. I started keeping track. The sheet of paper is hilarious. It starts out with neat handwriting (well as neat as mine can be) and by the end you can tell that I was in a ton of pain. Around 3:15 I called the hospital and told them that the morphine had warn off and that I was wondering what else I could do for the pain. The contractions were fluctuating between 4 and 6 minutes. They said to drink water and get in the bath tub. Then Darren started keeping track. At that point the contractions were 2 minutes apart. We called the hospital and they said to come in.

Let me tell you that was the longest 45 minute drive to the hospital. I didn't really want to deliver in the car. When we got to the hospital they told me I had to fill out a form. Thankfully Darren was able to do it. Then the nurse pushed me in the wheelchair to my room. She must have thought I was being melodramatic because she stopped the wheelchair outside the door and told me to go to the bathroom to get undressed. I told her I was in too much pain. I went straight to the bed. She looked at me like -- seriously? Then another nurse came in to check me. She said I have some bad news. I told her if I wasn't in labor and dilated I was going to flip out. She said the bad news is that you are 8 cm dilated. This was just before 5 AM. I heard a nurse say that they needed to get me into surgery as quickly as possible. By 5:45 AM they were giving me an spinal. Not a minute to soon. I was in so much pain. Then at 6:08 AM he was delivered via c-section. It was quite a night!

All that to have our perfect little Beckett. It was worth every minute of the pain and now we have an awesome story about his birth.

Going home!

We both went home from the hospital today. I bought this outfit especially for the occasion but it is super big on him. I guess we'll wear it today and then wait for it to fit a little better before trying it on again.

Cousins

Nicole sent us this picture of Keaton & Dominic hanging out watching TV. They are so cute together.

We were able to skype with Keaton earlier today. The hardest part of being in the hospital is being away from him. Can't wait to get home. So thankful that Nicole was able to come and stay with us. It has made it so much easier being apart knowing that he is having such a great time with her.

Faux Hawk

Beckett is a little jaundice so we are both staying until tomorrow and he is spending most of his time in the nursery under the special lights. They bring him to me every few hours so he can be fed. His nurse today is super sweet and when she brought him in last time he had just had a bath, was lathered in lotion and had this adorable faux hawk. So cute!

He is such a sweet baby. I hate taking him back to the nursery especially when he is as alert as he has been after eating. But I know it's the best for him.

I think this pacifier is hilarious. It looks so huge in his little mouth. It is vanilla scented. The nurse said that babies love it.

4 am feeding

4 am feeding. Content and sleeping on Mommy's shoulder. Darren just asked if he should run out for any black friday sales since we are up. Glad there aren't too many deals I'm missing out on. Happy shopping to everyone who braved the shopping insanity.

Sleepy boys.

Beckett and Daddy

Here is a picture of Beckett and Daddy.

We all had a good night sleep and are now refreshed an looking forward to a great day.

I am feeling great. It is hard to believe that I had a c-section yesterday. I am only sore if I sneeze of cough. The pain has been minimal. They've removed all the IV's and I am able to get out of bed. Hoping to take a shower shortly.

Snow!

We woke up this morning to a winter wonderland.

Keaton wanted to try out his new snowsuit from Ur Oma. His winter hat from last year still fits and matches the snowsuit perfectly. He was all smiles going outside and running through the snow. Darren is shoveling Mona and Papa Ed's driveway and he wanted to help. He can usually run across the side yard to their house but ended up sinking in the wet snow/mud. He had a few moments of fear as his feet were stuck and he couldn't move. His face was priceless. I pulled him out and told him to walk in Daddy's tracks. That was funny too because he was trying to actually put his feet where Darren had. His little legs were all stretched out.

It is supposed to keep snowing for most of the week and then taper off Wednesday morning. Hopefully we have an easy drive to the hospital Wednesday morning. We have to be there at 6 AM.

Keaton made a fruit loop necklace at school today. This evening he realized that he could eat the fruit loops. Needless to say now he's just wearing a string around his neck.

PF Chang's

Pregnant and craving Chinese food. Drove 45 minutes to Salt Lake for PF Chang's. So yummy. Mommy and baby are happy.

Keaton had fun with the chop sticks. He actually does surprisingly well. Better than I do. I gave up years ago and just use a fork. His favorite Chinese food is spring rolls and the rice.

The couple sitting next to us was smiling at him all night. They got a free desert and gave it to Keaton. He was thrilled. He has quite the sweet tooth. Guessing he picked up that trait from his Oma.

Halloween 2010

Trick or Treat!

Our little dinosaur who's really a dragon. When I asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween he said a dinosaur. My friend Julie's son Simon was a dragon last year and let us borrow the costume. Keaton doesn't know the difference and Roared like a dinosaur.

Happy Halloween!

Update! Yes I am posting to the Blog!

Alright, it has taken months but I finally got confirmation that blogspot can take posts from my cell phone. Now you may be asking, "what does that mean for me"? Well it means that it will be far easier to post a picture here and there letting everyone know what's going on. I'll be able to update the blog every time I update Facebook. So you can expect to see posts more frequently.

So in preparation I'm going to take a few minutes and provide you with a quick update on what has been going on. I guess this is necessary as the last post was from January. Lots of great and happy things have happened.

In March we went to Florida for Jennifer's wedding. While we were there we went to Walt Disney World. Keaton absolutely loved it. I have never seen a child react to the characters the way he did. He ran up and hugged each one. It was hard to get a picture because you couldn't see his face. It was buried into the fur. Mickey and Minnie were highlights.

On June 2 Keaton turned 2. Hard to believe how quickly time has gone by. We flew home to WNY to celebrate Keaton's birthday and meet Dominic (Nicole's baby). It was great to have time with family. Keaton had a blast at his birthday party. Aunt Jenna was kind enough to host at her house which was perfect. This was the first time Keaton had a party on his birthday. Last year we celebrated with just us and my mom. So this was a real treat. He loved opening the presents and playing with all the kids.

At the party we made our big announcement. Keaton is going to be a big brother! We are having a baby boy and plan to name him Beckett Darren Lemieux. We currently have a c-section scheduled for Nov 24. Looking forward to meeting our new little man.

We really enjoyed summer. The weather was perfect here in Utah. Keaton loved playing outside. In August we put in a sprinkler system and sod in the front yard. It is so nice to be able to enjoy our yard. Maybe next year we will put in the backyard.

In September we went to Las Vegas for a week. Nicole, Chris and Dominic met us there. We basically spent the week relaxing, swimming and enjoying the company.

That is a quick overview of life at the Lemieux home. Like I said you should expect to see more regular posts and pictures.

Love to all.
Melissa, Darren, Keaton and Beckett

P.S.: I posted a few pictures below. Enjoy.
